Required DHCS Training and Self-Attestation
To receive payments for ACEs screenings, you must complete the Becoming ACEs Aware in California training and self-attest to complete this training by providing your National Provider Identifier (NPI) as part of the course evaluation.
The Becoming ACEs Aware in California training is a free, two-hour, online course that covers Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), toxic stress, ACE screening, toxic stress risk assessment, and trauma-informed care and provides health care teams evidence-based strategies to mitigate the toxic stress response. The training offers between 2.0 and 5.0 Continuing Education and Maintenance of Certification credits depending on the number of cases completed.
To complete the training, visit https://training.acesaware.org/aa/detail?id=500
To complete the attestation or check your attestation status, log into your ACES Aware Learning Center account here: https://training.acesaware.org/aa/attestation
DHCS maintains a list of providers who have attested to completing the Becoming ACEs Aware in California training. This list is made available to Medi-Cal managed care plans so they can determine who is certified to receive Medi-Cal payment for conducting eligible ACE screenings.
