Spreading the Word, Not the Flu
It’s official: Flu season has begun. We want to help your patients get the preventive care they need.
Sometimes it can be as simple as:
- A reminder during an office visit
- Fliers posted in examination rooms
- Or starting the conversation at check in
Marketing materials are a great way to get the flu message out. The federal CDC (Centers for Disease Control & Prevention) is a great resource for printable materials. They also have widgets and other promotional services that can get help your staff get the word out to patients and their families. See what’s available online at www.cdc.gov/flu under Communication Resource Center. You can search for materials by demographic to ensure that your patients get the message you want to send about flu vaccines.
Flu Shots – An HPSJ Covered Benefit
Flu vaccines are a covered benefit for HPSJ members and we want to make sure that your patients know to get the vaccines when appropriate. For the HPSJ pharmacy benefit, the coverage is as follows for flu vaccines:
- All vaccines EXCEPT FluZone HD (High Dose)
– Only for patients age 19 and older - For younger than 19 years old, vaccines are covered under the VFC (Vaccines for Children)
Program —- – HPSJ members can go to their doctor’s office or clinic
