Important Update: Assembly Bill 144, signed into law on September 17, 2025, requires all full-service health plans in California to continue covering preventive services and immunizations without cost-sharing or prior authorization, regardless of changes to federal guidelines. The law codifies coverage for USPSTF “A” and “B” rated services, ACIP-recommended immunizations, and HRSA-supported guidelines as of January 1, 2025, and allows the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) to supplement these recommendations. Health plans must implement CDPH updates within 15 business days, and coverage applies to both commercial and Medi-Cal managed care plans. To see those additional guidelines/requirements visit the CDPH website.
