(French Camp, CA) – Health Plan San Joaquin (HPSJ) committed $3,000,000 in funding to Gospel Center Rescue Mission’s New Life Multi-Purpose Center located in Downtown Stockton. The funding is in addition to commitments from other partners that will expand recuperative care services for unsheltered residents of our community.

The project will involve multiple construction phases through 2024 and will serve as a safe facility where recuperative care, substance use treatment, and mental health services will be provided to people with complex needs.

David Midura, CEO of Gospel Center Rescue Mission, shares: “The innovative, 3-story New Life Program Multi-Purpose Center will house 132 unsheltered community members, many of which are Health Plan of San Joaquin members. We are excited to begin construction on this much-needed Center to help further serve those in San Joaquin County and beyond. We are truly thankful and honored for the help that we’ve received. We are fortunate to work with so many amazing people who have a genuine care for the welfare of others. It’s not just a job, it’s a passion. Together, we are helping make the world a better place everyone.

HPSJ CEO, Lizeth Granados, stated: “Gospel Center Rescue Mission has taken key steps to understand the needs of our community and has taken action to address those needs by undertaking this bold initiative. This new Center will not only help to house many HPSJ members in need but also support other Medi-Cal and non-Medi-Cal recipients who need access to shelter and support services. Leveraging the funding and expertise of our local partners has gotten us here and we hope to find other ways to continue to work together in order to better serve our community.”
