Type: | Informational |
Subject: | Dignity Health Termination |
Business: | Medi-Cal Managed Care |
As we communicated previously, Dignity Health issued a notice of termination, which included St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Mercy Medical Center, and Dignity Health Medical Foundation with the intent to negotiate contract rates and terms.
After an extended attempt of negotiating contract terms in good faith, we regret to inform you that despite all efforts our contract with Dignity Health hospitals ended on 9/1/24. The provider group contract, Dignity Health Medical Foundation, will end on 11/1/24. Dignity Health Medical Foundation will retain their current membership until their contract terminates. Members will be notified accordingly and will be reassigned to new primary care providers (PCP) with an option to change PCPs.
We are very disappointed about this outcome, but we want to assure you that we are prepared to continue operations without the Dignity Health system. The hospitals contract termination does not impact emergency services at St. Joseph’s Medical Center and Mercy Medical Center and all continuity of care guidelines will apply. Patient care remains our top priority, and our focus is to avoid disruption in care as much as possible. We will continue to authorize services at the terminated hospitals if the member’s physician does not have privileges at any of our contracted facilities.
