We are excited to announce that Health Plan of San Joaquin and the Modesto Nuts have partnered for the upcoming MiLB’s 2019 baseball season to celebrate the Central Valley’s strong Latino roots with a season-long event series “Copa de la Diversión,” or “Fun Cup.”

The Modesto Nuts will transform to “Alebrijes de Modesto” or “animal spirit,” a name designated specifically during this community driven event.

What is a spirit animal? A spirit animal represents the spirit that one imagines to conquer life and whose characteristics that person shares or embodies. It’s a metaphor, often funny, for an animal that the person relates to or admires.

  • The Moose Antlers represent the home of the Modesto Nuts parent club, the Seattle Mariners.
  • The Coyote is common throughout the Central Valley. It’s smart and an adaptable canine.
  • The Mighty Eagle is derived directly from La Bandera Mexicana, the heritage of nearly 50% of our population. The Mexican Flag features eagle’s wings and talons.

2019 Spring/Summer Games
Health Plan of San Joaquin invites you to be part of the “Copa de la Diversión” festivities by attending upcoming 5 games during the 2019 Spring/Summer season. We will be announcing how you and your family can be part of the fun.

All games will be played at John Thurman Field, home to the minor league Modesto Nuts.
