“As the health education specialist for HPSJ, I have had the opportunity to attend the
Perinatal Equity Initiative Community Advisory Board group. This group is organized
through San Joaquin County Public Health Services and comprised of various
stakeholders that serve the African American community. Their goal is to assess and
fill in gaps Black Infant Health (BIH) doesn’t address. This work is aimed at reducing
the inequities African American people face when getting medical care during
pregnancy and postpartum.” – Jessica Nila, MPH
