On February 10, 2026, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) launched 30-day public and Tribal comment periods to gather feedback on its five-year renewal application for the California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM) Section 1115 demonstration, which is currently set to expire on December 31, 2026.
The CalAIM renewal builds upon our core principles of person-centered care and integration of physical, behavioral, and social services to improve health outcomes and reduce disparities. This renewal reflects our commitment to whole-person care and long-term sustainability of reforms that address social drivers of health.
The public and Tribal comment periods will remain open through 11:59 p.m. PDT on March 12, 2026. DHCS will also host two public hearings to solicit stakeholder comments. Registration links and additional materials for the upcoming public hearings are available here: https://www.dhcs.ca.gov/provgovpart/Pages/CalAIM-1115-and-1915b-Waiver-Renewals.aspx.
