The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is providing an update on the DHCS Medi-Cal Provider Manual. The following information previously located in the Evaluation and Management section of the Part 2 manual has been relocated to more appropriate sections of the Provider Manual:

  • Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) information can be found in the Local Educational Agency (LEA) Service: Psychology/Counseling section of the Medi-Cal Part 2 manual.
  • Alcohol and Drug Screening, Brief Interventions and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) information can be found in the Preventive Services section of the Medi-Cal Part 2 manual.
  • Brief Emotional/ Behavioral Assessment information can be found in the Non-Specialty Mental Health Services: Psychiatric and Psychological Services section of the Medi-Cal Part 2 manual.
  • Cognitive Health Assessment information can be found in the Non-Specialty Mental Health Services: Psychiatric and Psychological Services section of the Medi-Cal Part 2 manual.
  • Depression Screening information can be found in the Preventive Services section of the Medi-Cal Part 2 manual.
  • Smoking and Tobacco Cessation Counseling can be found in the Non-Specialty Mental Health Services: Psychiatric and Psychological Services section of the Medi-Cal Part 2 manual.
