Pamela Newman (French Camp, CA) – Health Plan of San Joaquin (HPSJ) has announced that Pamela Newman, MBA, has joined HPSJ as vice president of provider networks. Newman has come to HPSJ with over 20 years of high level experiences in the healthcare insurance industry, including expertise in managed care contracting, provider relations, and business development of not-for-profit health plans serving Medicaid populations.

“Pamela is a seasoned leader in building enduring managed care provider networks. Her dedication to ensuring that HPSJ’s partnerships become even stronger is not only moving us towards a shared vision of providing high quality of care for HPSJ members,” said HPSJ CEO Amy Shin, “it’s already inspiring our team of dedicated provider service representatives and contracting staff.”

“As we celebrate our 20th anniversary this year, HPSJ is looking forward to continuing our collaboration with our over 5,500 provider partners; they each are so critical to our founding vision to improve the health of the communities we serve and our over 337,000 members throughout San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties,” Shin added.

Most recently Newman was director of payor contracting at Sound Physicians (Tacoma, Washington) where she was responsible for over 1500 payor contracts in 34 states. Previously, she was principal for The Newman Group, a consultancy working with the leadership of a large array of independent businesses to develop strategic plans, and then delivering oversight and counsel on the effectiveness of multiple business systems to promote their success. Prior to that position, she was assistant administrator for business development, strategic planning and marketing for Olympic Medical Center (Port Angeles, Washington). While serving as director of internal audit and consulting at Saint Mary’s Health Network (Reno, Nevada), she served as corporate compliance officer and privacy officer.

Newman received both her bachelor of science degree in business administration and a master of business administration (MBA) from the University of Nevada (Reno).
