New Measure for Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) Measurement Year 2023 DEV – Developmental Screening in the First Three Years of Life.
Annual screening of children for at risk developmental, behavioral, and social delays using a standardized screening tool. before their 1st, 2nd and 3rd birthday. Documentation must include:
- A note indicating the date the screening was performed
- A completed standardized tool recognized by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)/Bright Futures (https://publications.aap.org/toolkits/resources/15625/)
- Evidence of a screening result or screening score
Please note, Bright Futures and the AAP recommend General Developmental Screening in addition to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) screening. ASD screening on its own does not meet the specifications for this measure.
