This is one of those offerings.
About Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome
The number of babies born with neonatal abstinence syndrome grew five-fold from 2000 to 2012. Effective care for these babies is an urgent health priority and pediatric champions have been developing ways to address this need.
Non-pharmacological interventions
Dr. Matthew Grossman and his team at Yale Medical School have developed an approach that has reduced hospital stays for these babies from 30 days to five.
Instead of removing newborns from their mothers, placing them in a neonatal ICU (NICU), and treating them with morphine, Grossman and the team emphasize non-pharmacological interventions such as placing them in low-stimulation environments, feeding frequently, swaddling, and having parents serve as the primary caregivers
The Webinar (Monday, July 30, 2018) – Offered at no charge for attendees
