What is Medi-Cal?

Medi-Cal is California’s version of the Federal Medicaid program.
If you qualify, you can enroll in no-cost or low-cost health coverage year round.

Who qualifies for Medi-Cal?

Some of the people who qualify for Medi-Cal include:

  • People with children
  • Pregnant women
  • Children in foster care and former foster youth up to 26 years of age
  • Parents or caretakers of disadvantaged children under 21 years old
  • Blind and Disabled Individuals
  • Seniors (64 and Older)
  • People living in a skilled nursing or home care
  • People enrolled in one of these programs:
    1. Cal Fresh
    2. SSI/SSP
    3. CalWorks (AFDC)
    4. Refugee Assistance
    5. Foster Care or Adoption Assistance
    6. Medicare Part A or B

For many, Medi-Cal also requires that your household meet certain income limits. Normally 138% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL)
