California Electronic Visit Verification (CalEVV) Requirements

Subject: California Electronic Visit Verification (CalEVV) Requirements

As required by the federal CURES Act, all providers (including enrolled, contracted, non-contracted, and subcontracted entities) delivering Medi-Cal services subject to California Electronic Visit Verification (CalEVV) must be:

  • Registered with CalEVV or an approved alternate EVV system
  • Fully trained and actively using the EVV system
  • Submitting visit data in compliance with CURES requirements

Non-compliance may result in disciplinary action, as authorized under Welfare and Institutions Code 14043.51 by the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and its partners.

For Providers Using the CalEVV System:

Register for CalEVV

Visit the link below for registration instructions:  https://www.dhcs.ca.gov/provgovpart/Pages/EVV.aspx

  • Complete System Training
  • Set Up a CalEVV Account at https://evv.sandata.com/
  • Train Staff (if applicable)
  • Begin Capturing and Submitting Visit Data

For Providers Using an Alternate EVV System:

  • Sandata will contact your Alternate EVV vendor to ensure they can transmit CURES-compliant visit data to the State.
  • Once credentialed, work directly with your vendor to ensure proper data capture and submission.

Final Step for All Providers:

Submit proof of one of the following immediately:

  • CalEVV Registration
  • Alternate EVV Vendor Credentialing Confirmation
