Cancer Screening for Women Measures
Update-BCS-E-Breast Cancer Screening
The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has updated the BCS measure specifications to expand the age range to include members 40-49 years of age. The updated measure is as follows:
- Patients assigned female at birth ages 40-74 who have not undergone chest reconstruction or breast reduction should have at least one mammogram every 2
CCS-E-Cervical Cancer Screening
Patients assigned female at birth 21-64 years of age who were screened for cervical cancer using any of the following:
- Patients assigned female at birth 21-64 years of age who had cervical cytology performed within the last 3 years.
- 30-64 years of age who had cervical high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) testing or cervical cytology/high-risk human papillomavirus co-testing within the last 5 years who were 30 years or older on the date of the
Recommended Best Practice:
- Educate members about the importance of early detection and encourage screening.
- Complete cervical cancer testing during well OBGYN visits, sick visits, urine pregnancy tests, UTI and screening for
- Document dates and results, including patients, provided information on screening and testing.
- Review and document patients’ surgical history with dates and results.
- Establish a standing order to obtain annual mammograms.
- Document month and year of mastectomy bilateral or unilateral status.
- Engage patients to discuss their fears.
