Stockton AirportHPSJ was bornUsing space at Stockton’s airport to start our preoperational regulatory and licensing journey.

San Joaquin Health AdministratorsSan Joaquin Health Administrators – HPS began administering benefits for San Joaquin County employees.

Doctor and PatientCalifornia’s Healthy Families – A program added to provide coverage to children who do not qualify for Medi-Cal.
Prenatal ProgramHealthy Families Program – HPSJ received Healthy Families Program Community Partner Plan Designation for demonstrating broad access to traditional and safety net providers.
1999
Mary Graham Children’s Shelter – HPSJ contributed to the construction of Mary Graham’s Child Advocacy Center and dedicated it in the name of Dr. J. D. Kortzeborn.
2000

Children and Families – HPSJ’s membership began with primarily children and families.

Doctor and PatientChildren’s Health Initiative – CHI was established to improve access to healthcare coverage for uninsured kids.

Kids Corner - MealsTogether with First 5 San Joaquin – The healthy kids program was established as part of the Children’s Health initiative, offering low-cost medical, dental, and vision services.
2002
Health Plan of San Joaquin HeadquartersHPSJ builds new headquarters in French Camp to provide centralized access for rapidly growing membership through our service area.

HPSJ’s nationally accredited Pharmacy Residency Program was introduced.

Pediatrician with babyInfants and Children The expansion of state-funded programs made thousands of infants and children eligible for coverage through HPSJ
Access for Infants and Mothers HPSJ added the Access for Infants & Mothers (AIM) Program, to provide affordable comprehensive health coverage to pregnant women.

Health Careers Scholarship ProgramHealth Careers Scholarship Program – The HPSJ health careers scholarship program was inaugurated.

Healthy Families – HPSJ expanded Healthy Families to Stanislaus and Merced Counties.
Senior AssistanceSeniors and Persons with Disabilities – Medi-Cal Program grew in size as Seniors and People with Disabilities transitioned to Medi-Cal Managed Care Plans.

2010
Stanislaus CountyStanislaus County – HPSJ won the bid to bring local health to the Stanislaus community as the Stanislaus Medi-Cal Managed Care Plan.

Walks for HealthWalks for Health –  Health Plan of San Joaquin employees kicked off the HPSJ walks for health program.
2014
NCQA 2015 AccreditationNCQA Accreditation – Health Plan of San Joaquin received NCQA Accreditation for its Medicaid/HMO line of business.
2015
HPSJ Modesto OfficeHPSJ Modesto Office – We expanded our Modesto office with a larger multipurpose room to host community events and wellness workshops and more staff to provide full membership services.
300 Thousand Members20 Years in the community – HPSJ celebrates its 20th year anniversary by reaching the 300-thousand member mark.

Healthy SmilesHealthy SmilesHPSJ launches a new Oral Health Initiative – good dental health keeps our members smiling!
2017
Senior AssistancePalliative Care ProgramHealth Plan of San Joaquin launches the  Palliative Care Program.

NCQA Re-accreditation – the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) awarded Health Plan of San Joaquin its three-year reaccreditation in the category of Medicaid HMO.
HEDIS Measures – HPSJ is a key contributor to quality improvements in the Central Valley. 90% of our HEDIS quality measures exceeded the DHCS minimum performance level!
2019
United WayHPSJ supports United Way – HPSJ exceeds employee fundraising goal and contributes over 34,800 to United Way to fund critical programs in our communities during the COVID-19 pandemic year.

COVID ReliefCOVID-19 Assistance
HPSJ launches Step Up campaign to educate community members about COVID safety practices. We distributed 40,000 masks to community members and partnered with San Joaquin County to leverage CARES Act funding to procure over 300,000 masks for 239 local schools!
2020
DMHC Announcement – DMHC announces that HPSJ is among the top plans for giving enrollees timely access to urgent and non-urgent care. HPSJ is ranked #2 out of 19 plans that offer Medi-Cal coverage and #2 out of 38 health plans that offer commercial, individual/family, and Medi-Cal coverage.

COVID-19 Volunteering
HPSJ employees volunteer to assist at the first community vaccination clinics in San Joaquin county which provided COVID vaccines to over 5,200 community members!
