The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH) + UCLA Public Mental Health Partnership is offering a free three-hour webinar on Foundational Skills for Suicide Assessment and Coping with Client Risk open to all on Monday, 12/22/25 and Tuesday, 12/23/25 from 9:00am-10:30am (PST). Featuring Elan Javanfard, MA, LMFT.
Learning Objectives:
Identify the common fears and emotional responses therapists experience when working with clients who exhibit suicidal or high-risk behaviors
Apply structured suicide risk assessment tools, such as the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS), to evaluate client risk effectively and ethically
Utilize supervision and peer support strategies to manage professional anxiety, reduce burnout, and improve clinical outcomes
Use cultural sensitivity and awareness of religious or community dynamics when assessing and treating suicidal risk
Create an individualized plan for ongoing professional development and continued learning in suicide risk management
