Follow- up After Emergency Department Visit for Substance Use:
- Revised measure name from Follow-up After Emergency Department for Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse or Dependence to Follow-up After Emergency Department visit for Substance Use – (FUA)
- Revised terminology from “alcohol or other drug abuse or dependence (AOD)” to “substance use” or “substance use disorder (SUD)”
Description:
Emergency Department (ED) visits among members 13 years and older with a principal diagnosis of substance abuse disorder (SUD), or any of drug overdose where there was a follow-up.
Follow-up Visits:
- Any of the following with a principal diagnosis of Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD):
- Outpatient or intensive outpatient
- Telehealth /Telephone
- Online assessment or pharmacotherapy dispensing event on the ED visit date
- Partial hospitalization
Examines: A visit with any Provider who is qualified to care for members with behavioral health (BH) Conditions.
- Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Clinical Social Workers, or other Therapists.
